Small Changes Make a Difference in Your Health

By Lisa Bradford, OKC. I started the A Girl & A Gun Push-Up Challenge in August to increase my upper body strength. I was surprised at the difference in my cholesterol and blood sugar levels as well as the BMI changes. My cholesterol and blood sugar levels dropped from where they were during the same time frame in 2016. My body fat dropped 9% and my muscle density increased 5%. The only thing that changed from 2016 to 2017 was the Push-Up Challenge. The changes had to be due to weight-based strength training. The AG & AG Push-Up Challenge was a small change in the grand scheme of things, but it made a big difference to me.

Establish a Safe Direction

Anytime you are handling a firearm, you must follow the 4 Rules of Gun Safety with great care. When you’re at a range, it’s very clear what is down range, but what if you are at your home, a hotel, a classroom, or somewhere else where you have to manipulate your firearm? Rounds go through walls and can leave houses and buildings. If you’re not in a place with a proper backstop, you must establish what is a safe direction that can minimize damage if a round was accidentally discharged.

A Girl & A Gun is pleased to announce that Tatiana Whitlock has accepted the position of Director of Training. Tatiana is an NRA Mom, certified NRA instructor, nationally recognized independent firearms instructor, speaker, and public figure, who has worked with AG & AG for the past five years. Her predecessor Kathy Jackson announced her retirement in 2017, and Tatiana will continue the work in this role to develop a formal education program to cultivate women firearms educators nationwide.

Your facilitator is a fantastic resource, but making the commitment to develop skills requires that you take three simple steps.
