If you had told me years ago that I would be the Executive Director of a national firearms training organization, I would have said you were crazy. I was vehemently anti-gun and a strong supporter of gun control measures. I championed for gun control for a long time, but then I made some discoveries and found that my arguments didn’t make sense. DAVILLA, TX — Women from all over the state of Texas came together June 27 and 28 to learn history, preparedness, and rifle marksmanship from the instructors at Battle Road USA. Twenty-three A Girl & A Gun members hailed from as close as Temple and as far away as Cypress and North Fort Worth, with the majority of ladies traveling from League City.

Limited to ladies only, in partnership with the League City chapter, a team of six instructors led the two-day course which walked students through safety, sighting in and adjusting optics, and various shooting positions and tips for optimal stability. Students started and ended each day with a time-limited course of fire at 25 yards, designed to simulate shooting targets at 100, 200, 300, and 400 yards, as well as a 250-yard precision challenge.
