A Girl & A Gun leaders joined shooting sports enthusiasts from across the nation at Gun Prom in Columbus, Ohio, for an evening of friendship, celebration, and purpose. The event benefited A Girl & A Gun Legacy, a separate nonprofit organization working to establish a permanent training and gathering space where future generations of women can learn, connect, and belong.
Dates announced! The 10th Annual Back the Women in Blue training event will take place November 10-13, 2026, at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center in Round Rock, Texas. The event begins with a Welcome Dinner on November 10, followed by three full days of world-class instruction in firearms, defensive tactics, professional development, and leadership.
Most of us spend our time together on the range, at matches, in training classes, at industry events, or volunteering in our local communities. Gun Prom is an opportunity to enjoy something a little different. On August 15, 2026, supporters from across the country will gather at Villa Milano in Columbus, Ohio, for an evening of great food, entertainment, conversation, and community, all while supporting a mission that helps preserve opportunities for future generations in the shooting sports.
There are moments when your past and your purpose come together in unexpected ways. This is one of those moments for me. Through A Girl & A Gun’s partnership with Ruger, I am thrilled to share that we are donating 20 Ruger American Rimfire Compact rifles to Heart O’ the Hills as the camp begins its next chapter at its new home. For me, this is more than a donation. It is a chance to help give back to a place that gave me so much.
A Girl & A Gun proudly announces that A Girl & A Gun Legacy Board Member Amanda Suffecool has been named the 2026 recipient of the prestigious NRA Sybil Ludington Women’s Freedom Award, one of the National Rifle Association’s highest honors recognizing women who have made extraordinary national contributions to freedom, firearms education, advocacy, and the preservation of Second Amendment rights.
Black History Month invites reflection on the enduring legacy of Black Americans who have shaped our nation’s civic and constitutional story, including the right to keep and bear arms. It challenges us to examine not only the ideals written on paper but also how those ideals were applied in practice, and how that history informs the participation of women in firearms today. The right to self-protection with firearms has long been connected to autonomy, self-defense, and equal protection under the law. At times in our nation’s history, that right was explicitly restricted based on race. That history matters because it provides context for where we stand today and why deliberate, inclusive engagement is essential. At A Girl & A Gun, we believe that when women are informed about the past and welcomed into responsible training communities in the present, they are better positioned to shape a stronger future. That belief guides how we educate, how we lead, and how we create space for women to grow.
Over the years, A Girl & A Gun has grown into something far bigger than training classes or range days. What began as education has become a community: a club built on trust, responsibility, and women supporting one another. Several years ago, a member came to us with an unexpected and deeply humbling request. She told us she wanted to leave part of her estate to support this mission after her lifetime. My immediate response was no. I didn’t want her money. She insisted. And then she explained why.

From the range line to the mat, women law enforcement officers from across the country gathered in Round Rock, Texas, for the 9th Annual A Girl & A Gun “Back the Women in Blue” training event, held November 4–8, 2025, at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center.

A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG) hosted 22 female law enforcement officers for the 8th Annual ‘Back the Women in Blue’ presented by GLOCK, with ammunition sponsored by Aguila. The event took place November 13-15, 2024, at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center. Participants were female commissioned officers, each nominated by someone in her community, from 11 states, including 10 county agencies, 13 municipalities, and 1 tribal nation department.
A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) hosted 19 female law enforcement officers for the 7th Annual ‘Back the Women in Blue’ presented by GLOCK, with ammunition sponsored by Federal Premium. The event took place October 25-27, 2023, at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center. Participants were female commissioned officers, each nominated by someone in her community, from nine states, including eleven county agencies and nine municipalities or university departments.
As you know, the motto of A Girl & A Gun is “It’s More Than Shooting.” Though our national Giving Back program, we support several causes important to our community. One of those causes is pediatric brain cancer, and so as a league we observe Brain Cancer awareness month in May.
SAN ANTONIO TX — A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) participated in the 15th Annual Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA)
A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG) Women’s Shooting League hosted its 6th ‘Back the Women in Blue’ law enforcement training event presented by GLOCK from October 12-15, 2022, at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center. The student group comprised 16 female officers from around the country, who had been nominated by citizens or colleagues in their home communities as deserving of this experience.
A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) hosted twelve law enforcement officers for the 4th Annual ‘Back the Women in Blue’ Presented by SIG SAUER. The event took place Sept 9-11, 2020, in at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center. Participants included female officers, deputies, constables, and troopers representing large municipalities, rural counties, and state agencies from eight different states.
Part of the culture of A Girl & A Gun is empowering women and families with the ability to take control of their person safety. The Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for resources in our community for those who may face violence during the shelter-in-place mandates.
Over the holidays, Betsy and her husband provided cut-out Christmas tree targets for the AG & AG Tallahassee members to shoot. They poke lights through the holes and add additional decorations to add holiday cheer throughout the Big Bend Hospice facility.
A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) is proud to announce that the Space Coast, FL, Chapter supported The Sharing Center of Central Brevard’s Holiday Food Drive. This annual food drive is a joint effort for (and friendly competition between) the cities of Rockledge and Cocoa.
A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) raised funds for childhood cancer by selling two t-shirt designs in 2019 that promoted awareness of the disease. The Unstoppable AF shirt and the Childhood Cancer Awareness shirt were sold through the AG & AG website. Five dollars from each shirt sale was earmarked for the Cooper Trooper Foundation.
AG & AG participated in the 11th Annual Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) National Family Day event held on October 20, 2018, at the at the San Antonio Police Academy in San Antonio, TX. AG & AG Executive Director Robyn Sandoval, along with members and facilitators of the AG & AG San Antonio chapters, hosted a bay dedicated to women attendees where they could shoot steel targets with a 9mm pistol and a .22 LR AR-15 style rifle.
AG & AG met its fundraising goal of $10,000 for the Jennifer Smith Memorial Fund as a part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Only 500 tickets were sold and three names were randomly drawn for three rifles donated by Stag Arms.
Schneider smiles as she talks about seeing these friends at the upcoming NRA annual meeting being held in Dallas, Texas. With over 15 acres of vendors, as well as speakers and educational forums, it has a lot to offer the estimated 90,000 NRA members who are expected to attend.
Eckert’s says that her biggest joy is seeing women grow, women who come in and are intimidated at first. “One came in saying she wasn’t a really good shooter and now she is. She’s all smiles. Seeing that lightbulb come on, that’s so rewarding,” beams Eckert.

Members of the San Antonio Chapter joined Founder Julianna Crowder at the 10th Annual Family Day for HAVA (Honored American Veterans Afield). HAVA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the needs of the returning disabled veterans and active duty personnel.
This past week saw historic flooding in the southeast Texas area with Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey. The AG & AG sisterhood churned up more of a storm than Harvey – and in a good way. The AG & AG sisterhood was in full swing to help their sisters in harm’s way. Cindy Bowser, Facilitator of the Elizabethtown PA Chapter, initiated a “Bucket Brigade” to help those in need.
A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG) hosted a training for female law enforcement on August 9-11, 2017, at the American Police Hall of Fame in Titusville, FL. Participants included five law enforcement officers (LEOs) and three civilians.
