Tallahassee Chapter Shoots for Christmas Cheer

Tallahassee Chapter Shoots for Christmas Cheer

A Girl & A Gun Tallahassee FL member Betsy Pollock has been a volunteer with Big Bend Hospice for many years.  She frequently goes to a client’s home to sit with a patient while the caregiver goes out for an hour or two.  Betsy shared the Big Bend mission with her AG & AG chapter, and they decided to give back to their community through this extraordinary organization.

Big Bend Hospice provides end-of-life care to terminal patients. They provide nurses, social workers, music therapists, and a host of volunteers to help families through this difficult time. Big Bend workers do in-home visits and also provide care in a facility for those patients who need extra care.

Betsy coordinated with Big Bend for the Tallahassee chapter to donate items, including Ensure, wipes, and other supplies.  Over the holidays, Betsy and her husband provide cut-out Christmas tree targets for the members. They shoot 10 shots at the paper trees and then they poke lights through the holes and add additional decorations.  The trees were placed in the rooms of the patients and around the facility to add additional holiday cheer.

Several members of the Tallahassee chapter have used the services of Big Bend hospice for our their family members, so the organization is close to their hearts.  They are proud to support the important work they do, and grateful for Betsy, who goes above and beyond for the chapter and their community.
