In 2016 we noticed an uptick in female law enforcement officers (LEOs) at our competitive matches and events. We discovered that most agencies do not offer mandatory firearms training post-academy and very few LEOs had attended any outside training in the last 5 years! With the increased violence towards LEOs and lack of training provided to them, A Girl & A Gun decided to #GiveBack with an annual event — Back the Women in Blue — to provide officers with 3 days of exceptional training, confidence in their weapons and DT skills, the chance to network and mentor with other women, and appreciation for being role models, defenders, and guardians of their communities. All costs are covered by sponsors and contributions from AG & AG HQ, Chapters, and YOU! All proceeds from the Blue Bags go directly to the Back the Women in Blue program.
