AUSTIN — A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) hosted 14 law enforcement officers for the 5th Annual ‘Back the Women in Blue’ Presented by GLOCK. The event took place Sept 15-17, 2021, at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center. Participants included female officers and deputies representing large and small municipalities and counties from eight different states.
“Our home is your home,” said Chief Allen Banks, who welcomed the officers to the City of Round Rock. “We want you to enjoy your time here and leave equipped to better serve your communities.” The RRPD Training Department gave the ‘Back the Women in Blue’ attendees a cross-section of training to enhance the skills that they use on the job. Officers enjoyed their time at RRPD’s state-of-the-art facility with the department’s exceptional leadership and training teams.
Training included vehicle scenarios, force on force, and firearms skills. Officers also received a day of defensive tactics to give them techniques and confidence in managing situations they face. Officers also rappelled down the seven-story tower. With significant support from GLOCK, ammunition provided by Federal Premium, and donations from Shadow Systems, Primary Arms, XS Sight Systems, and Swab-its, AG & AG was able to provide the the training materials, range fees, hotel, and all meals for the officers.
“This event was by far some the best training I’ve had in my law enforcement career,” said Officer Amanda Jeske. “The environment is amazing. A Girl &A Gun has not only provided this amazing training that I can use every day on the job, but has also allowed me to make long lasting friendships!”
AG & AG hosts ‘Back the Women in Blue’ for female law enforcement officers each September, as well as many competitive matches and civilian training events throughout the year. For more information, visit AGirlandAGun.org/btwb.
