In October, A Girl & A Gun crisscrossed the country for training and matches, bringing new opportunities for women to learn and compete. As always, we were movers and shakers in the firearms industry! Here are our highlights for October 2022.

Competitors Travel from 17 Different States to Nation’s Only All-Ladies 3-Gun Match
In October, 80 women traveled to Missouri from 17 different states to participate in shooting clinics, stage walkthroughs, social activities, and ultimately 2 fantastic matches. The Team Pistol Challenge and Multigun Challenge took place at the beautiful Lucas Ranch with competitors tackling 14 stages over 3 days. Officers Attend 6th Annual ‘Back the Women in Blue’ Event Presented by GLOCK
We hosted our 6th Annual ‘Back the Women in Blue’ law enforcement training event presented by GLOCK from October 12-15, 2022, at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center. The student group comprised 16 female officers from around the country, who had been nominated by citizens or colleagues in their home communities as deserving of this experience. Read more >

AG & AG Reveals Top 10 Handguns for Women in 2022
At the A Girl & A Gun National Conference CELEBRATE 2022, attendees brought 739 handguns to use for training classes ranging from concealed carry to competition. Northern Colorado Ladies Hit the Fields with Pheasants Forever
13 gals from the Northern Colorado Chapter attended a very fun weekend pheasant hunting, riding horses, and shooting trap, archery, and .22 rifles. They spent three days on this awesome getaway. Pheasants Forever provided the birds and guides and dogs. Everyone went home with at least one bird!

AG & AG Leads at the Southern Belle IDPA Championship Match
We were proud to see that 50%!! of the competitors at the Southern Belle Tier 2 Ladies-Only Specialty Match were members of AG & AG! Yes, we’ll claim these shenanigators as our own! We love bringing ladies into competition and showing them how much fun we can have on the range! And our girls dominated the leaderboard: Victoria K. 1st Place SSP Marksman, Kristy D. 1st Place CCP Novice, Ranae K. 1st Place SSP Novice, Bobbi H. 1st Place EDP Marksman! Congratulations, ladies!

Eileen Kerlin of Henderson NV Earns Two 1st Place Wins in the 3Q 2022 Quarterly Match
In October, AG & AG proudly announced the winners of the 2022 3rd Quarter League Match. A total of 136 participants from 35 chapters across the United States submitted scores. Congratulations to Eileen Kerlin of Henderson, NV for earning two 1st place wins: 1st Place Overall and 1st Place Centerfire Optics Division. Congratulations to Toni Miller of Cincinnati, OH for earning a 1st Place division win in Centerfire Irons and 2nd Place Overall. Sunshine Dennis of Troy, NC and Linda O’Brien of Sherwood, OR earned 1st Place division wins in Rimfire Irons and Rimfire Optics respectively. Read more >

Local Training and Media Highlights
Here are local news and media highlights for October 2022:

The League City TX Chapter celebrated its 11-year anniversary! 56 ladies commemorated the occasion with tiaras and VIP treatment from their new host range.

The North Austin TX Chapter did a test run of a new MilSim Engagement with HeliGunner. The ladies participated in 4 missions that included humvees, helicopters, pyrotechnics, and close quarters combat.

The San Antonio, San Antonio Northwest, and New Braunfels TX Chapters invited Lou Ann Hamblin to train 12 local female officers. The chapters raised donations to host each officer, and provide lunches, water, supplies, and swag for this amazing day.

The Lakeland FL Chapter attended an AR15 class, with 6 ladies shooting rifles for the very first time. They learned to fieldstrip, clean & reassemble, zero, shoot, and use their slings.

The Little Rock AR Chapter celebrated their 1-year anniversary by taking a road trip to the Southern Belle IDPA Championship match.

The Broward County FL Chapter hosted a fundraiser Bullets & Brunch. The range and targets were donated, so they were able to fundraise $450 for Wreaths Across America at South Florida National Cemetery!

The Salt Lake Chapter UT engaged 3D targets by shooting milk jugs with ghost faces on them. The jugs would move with each hit, so the ladies had to be quick and precise with follow-up shots. They also examined entry and exit points. It was a creative, educational, and spooktacular night!

The Cedaredge CO Chapter had a lot of traffic at their Applefest booth. 77 new ladies signed up to attend an upcoming Gun Safety and AG & AG Orientation!

The Obetz and Licking County OH Chapters combined forces for a USCCA Emergency First Aid Fundamentals Class.

The Las Vegas and Henderson NV Chapters enjoyed a traditional 25m Project Appleseed Event. Facilitator Alexandra Nikolov and her husband both earned the Rifleman designation and patch!

The Sheboygan County WI Chapter hosted a Skeleton Shoot & Pizza Party! Targets were scored for fun prizes.

The Central WI Chapter hosted two GNOs in October. They focused on trigger control and worked with the Mantis X10.

The Foothills NC Chapter hosted a “Shoot Steve the Skeleton” friendly competition at their October GNO. The winner, Cameron Higdon, took home a gorgeous fall mum from Blooms Nursery.

The Treasure Coast FL Chapter hosted 2 GNOs, a T Time, a Conference planning meeting, a Co-Ed Cowboy Action Shoot, a CPR Certification Class, a Rezylient Hearing Protection Ears Event, and a Bowling Pin Shoot GNO!

The Henderson NV Chapter went full auto at their October Breakfast & Bullets get together. The ladies loved engaging the “giggle” switch!

Several AG & AG Chapters came together for training with LouAnn Hamblin of LouKa Tactical. They tackled situational awareness, one-handed shooting, & additional weapon systems. Sunday’s coaching class was specialty training for our chapter leadership teams.

North Austin TX Chapter Facilitator Sandra Woodruff kicked off a series of mini-courses on the USCCA CCHDF. Members had phenomenal discussions in class and have a better appreciation for continuing education.

The Chattahoochee Valley and Lake Martin AL Chapters met up at the East AL Gun Club monthly steel challenge match! Sisterhood at its finest!

The Broward County FL Chapter did their annual pumpkin carving for Halloween!

The CA-Sierra Foothills Chapter completed a 5-week series of Filipino KunTao lessons with Guru Mel HeBert, whose trademarked motto is, “We train to totally dominate the space we allow our opponents to occupy.”

The Flagler County FL Chapter made sure these skeletons were stopped in their tracks! Lots of fun at B&B!

The Licking County OH Chapter introduced the AG & AG Quarterly Match as part of their target transitions training in the classroom. They did great!

The Sheboygan County WI Chapter hosted a basic pistol class for their new shooters. These ladies learned rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, and so much more!

The Salt Lake UT Chapter held a Pistol Cleaning Clinic, where they reviewed supplies needed and steps to properly clean a pistol. 8 ladies learned how to field strip their pistols, properly clean, lubricate, and reassemble them.

The Sierra Foothills CA Chapter had a blast seeing who could “carve” the best Jack o’Lantern at their Bullets & Brunch. And thanks to the range being in the beautiful outdoors, they didn’t have to clean up the mess; it was left for the deer to eat.

The San Marcos CA Chapter saved the world from the Zombies!

The Nassau FL Chapter had some Halloween fun with the skeleton targets!

The Davenport IA Chapter made Jack o’Lanterns out of their pumpkin targets. Snacks and winners!

The Kettle Moraine WI Chapter went a little batty for their Halloween-themed GNO!

The Tallahassee FL Chapter had fun with Dracula dispatching and then they went to dinner!

The Grand Junction CO Chapter had an eerie-sistibly good time at their annual Halloween Shoot! It was a special treat to have an AG & AG sister from the Greater Black Hills SD Chapter passing through the area. #sisterhood

The Hot Springs AR Chapter had a spooktacular month. They did some Vice Presidente’ drills at T Time and had great food and sistership later on the lake!

The Memphis TN Chapter shot skeletons, leaves, and pumpkins at the GNO. When we shot them, there were splatters of color all over the leaves!

AG & AG members from 6 different states attended a shotgun clinic in Texas hosted by Aaron Hayes. The ladies worked on patterning chokes, shooting moving targets, zeroing slugs, and so much more.

Richmond VA Chapter Facilitator had a great day representing AG & AG and working with the Glock guys in their booth at the Green Top Expo!

Congratulations to North Austin TX AG & AG member Tammy Parks who earned 3rd Place at the Staccato and PrairieFire Celebrating Heroes event, finishing among pro lady shooters! She won $3,000!

Congratulations to Kara Krautter for her 2nd place finish in the Staccato CS Long Shot Challenge! Kara made it through the 50 yd, 75 yd, and 100 yd targets before hitting the 125 yd target in just over 11 seconds, earning the $500 Staccato Cash Prize!

Congratulations to Jill Marton for her 3-year and Theresa Schneider for her 8th year as Facilitator and also the Saukville Chapter’s 3rd anniversary. 8 of the OG members from 2015 attended B&B bringing the total to 22 ladies on that chilly morning.

Congratulations to North Austin TX member Bedalina Rodriguez for earning the distinction of NRA Certified Instructor!

Congratulations to AG & AG Chapter Facilitators Crystal Ouzillou, Stephanie Schafer, and Charneta Samms for earning the distinction of USCCA Training Counselors!

Congratulations to AG & AG Executive Director Robyn Sandoval, who earned a challenge coin in her class at Gunsite against 17 other students.

Robyn Sandoval participated in a livestreamed interview with CloverTac Productions. It was a great visit about the important work of AG & AG nationwide.

Robyn Sandoval was a guest host on the Daily Bullet reviewing news and events for the Second Amendment Foundation.

Naperville IL Chapter Facilitator Julie Puls was featured in an article in the Chicago Sun Times about “high-capacity” magazines. Julie shared that they a necessary part of her gun kit “because the criminals have high-capacity magazines.”

AG & AG’s Fall Fest event was featured by the NRA Shooting Sports USA because “A Girl & A Gun continues to be a leader in welcoming new competitors into the shooting sports.”

AG & AG’s Sniper School was featured by NRA Women in the article titled, “AG & AG Takes Shooting to New Heights—and Distances—at Sniper School.”

In October, AG & AG’s Sniper School was also featured on Ammoland in the article titled, “Women Take on Riflecraft and Fieldcraft at AG & AG Sniper School.”

A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG) is a membership organization whose events are successful stepping stones for thousands of women entering the shooting community by fostering their love of shooting with caring and qualified instructors who coach them.
