In October, A Girl & A Gun crisscrossed the country for training and matches, bringing new opportunities for women to learn and compete. As always, we were movers and shakers in the firearms industry. Here are our highlights for October:
Fall Fest Matches: Success!
“We were proud to again host the only all-ladies multigun match in the nation,” said AG & AG Founder Julianna Crowder. Participants from across the U.S. to gathered for the great competition, training, and camaraderie for which A Girl & A Gun is known. The 5th Annual A Girl & A Gun Fall Festival Presented by GLOCK took place from October 6-11, 2020, at CMP Marksmanship Park in Talladega, AL. The Multigun Challenge included 83 competitors from 21 different states. The Multisport Challenge included 71 competitors from 20 different states.
Reaching More Women Shooters
A Girl & A Gun was featured in the inaugural issue of Lady Shooter LifeStyles Magazine, a publication for the women of the National Sporting Clays Association and others who love shotgun sports. Julianna and Robyn were honored to be highlighted to this growing audience. The multipage feature told the story of AG & AG and included a beautiful photo gallery from our Clays Championship in August.
Raising the Bar for Instructors
This month AG & AG hosted a pistol instructor course for 12 chapter Facilitators at SIG SAUER Academy in New Hampshire. The group enjoyed live-fire training for three days with female SIG SAUER instructors. With new knowledge, they returned home to their AG & AG chapters ready to put their instructor skills into practice.
Quarterly Match Winners Announced
17 chapters participated in our postal match and we announced the winners in October. Our Quarterly Match is a nationwide competition among members of AG & AG. Facilitated during a regularly scheduled event, such as a Girl’s Night Out, shooters can experience a competitive atmosphere: understanding the course of fire, match commands, operation of the shot timer, and scoring. The match allows new shooters to overcome mental barriers to participating in competitive shooting and gives experienced shooters the ability to test their skills in a casual, familiar environment.
Member Appreciation Is Another Way AG & AG Gives Back
This month marked the end of the third quarter, so 5 lucky AG & AG members won prizes just for being members! The quarterly Membership Appreciation Giveaway is just another perk of membership and our way of saying “thank you for being here!” All 6,500 active members were in the drawing! Thank you to Charter Arms, Dene Adams, and Voodoo Tactical for being our drawing sponsors!
Partnering to Make a Difference
In October, we were proud to support XS Sights in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Director of Training Tatiana Whitlock demoed their exclusive Pink Big Dot night sights. Breast Cancer is the most common cancer among women in the world; 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed in her lifetime, and we were proud to raise awareness in our community.
Journals Continue to Fly Off the Shelves!
This month we received another shipment of 500 Shooting Journals to meet the demand of our members! We are excited that members are utilizing their AG & AG Shooting Journals for their dry-fire and live-fire practice. The drills and discussions are highlighted at chapter meetings and during our biweekly Virtual Girls Nights Out.
