Ladies Triumph at Fall Fest 2021
“This was not an easy match,” said sponsored shooter Katrina Reed. “In fact, I would say it was the toughest match of the year. Long range out to 580 yards, double flyers, small off-hand rifle targets, and so much more. It was so rewarding watching ladies overcome fear and anxiety, to finish AND finish well.” The 6th Annual A Girl & A Gun Fall Festival took place from Oct 1 – Oct 3, 2021, at the Lucas Cattle Company Range in Cross Timbers, MO. The only all-ladies multigun match in the country welcomed 87 competitors from 25 different states. The bonus 1-day Team Pistol Challenge included 64 competitors comprising 32 teams. Read more >

A new manufacturer is developing a device that prevents unauthorized access of the handgun while empowering the user to carry, transport, or store the handgun. In October, AG & AG led a focus group about members’ current safe storage options, preferences, and needs. Nearly 300 women completed the survey and provided compelling results!
AG & AG Chapters Keep Raising the Bar
We are proud of all of the formal training we are able to foster in our community! In October, several chapters hosted AG & AG National Conference instructors at their local ranges. Tatiana Whitlock, Lou Ann Hamblin, Adam Winch, and Josh Crosby were just some of the nationally recognized instructors who led exclusive classes for AG & AG. Course work included advanced training, scenarios, barricades, and vehicles with both rifles and pistols. Read more >

New Virtual Program Cultivates Leadership
The Virtual Girls Night Out series has been going strong for over a year with 2-3 events per month. AG & AG also hosts the monthly Book Club meeting that has been steadily growing in participation. The October meeting hosted more than 50 members with Chris Knox, Editor of The War on Guns. AG & AG also announced that we will be hosting a monthly Facilitator Forum that will provide professional development for Chapter Facilitators via Zoom. These opportunities supplement our local activities and strengthen our membership base.
Local Training and Media Highlights
Here are local news and media highlights for October 2021:
The Ft Lauderdale FL Chapter hosted a GLOCK night with Megan West. Members learned about the GLOCK safe action system and shot several models. A lot of ladies holiday wish lists just got a little bigger!
53 members of the League City TX Chapter are actively working through the NRA Marksmanship Program, overseen by A-Team member, Robyn Sewell-Poutra. Since 2014, more than 50 League City members have achieve Distinguished Expert level!
Members from 3 different San Antonio-area chapters hit the range for a weekend with Lou Ann Hamblin for discussions and drills ranging from the most detailed trigger press practice, to consistent and accurate shot patterns while moving in any direction.
Because October was Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Flagler FL Chapter hosted Candi Wilke from the Family Life Center. AG & AG members donated a check for $100 and 3 boxes or supplies, shampoos, deodorants, sanitizers, soaps, etc. for the shelter.
In October, the Henderson & Las Vegas NV Chapters combined for the NRA basic rifle class, instructed by Facilitator Alexandra Nikolov. And Facilitator Eileen Kerlin took and passed the instructor’s course, so we have more training credentials in the sisterhood!
AG & AG Executive Director Robyn Sandoval was a host and key presenter for the DC Project Summit that took place at Big Daddy Unlimited in Gainesville, FL. She inspired the attendees to participate in training and advocacy.
The Davenport IA Chapter was featured in the Quad-City Times about the changing demographics of gun owners. “Right now, half of the guns we sell are to women. Two years ago it was about 35% and it’s been getting higher and higher,” Westrom said.
On Oct. 27, Julianna Crowder and Robyn Sandoval traveled to the National Shooting Complex to visit with sponsors and competitors at the NSCA Championships. They enjoyed seeing friends of AG & AG and meeting new ones!
