May 2024 Recap

In May 2024, A Girl & A Gun was soaring high after experiencing an overwhelmingly successful National Conference! We trained more than 2,000 women this month, our event attendance was up 43.2%, and our membership was up 34.1% over last May! Here are some of the highlights for the past 30 days in A Girl & A Gun Nation:

Attendance and Membership Continue to Surge in May

May 2024 saw a 43.2% increase in chapter event attendance and A Girl & A Gun membership was up 34.1% over last May! Our member polling shows that 41% of members joining in May had been shooting less than a year. 30% reported that they are the only shooter in their household, and 34% said that a friend introduced them to AG & AG. When asked why they primarily attended AG & AG 51% replied it as “to practice defensive skills” and 55% of them already had their conceal carry permits.

AG & AG Ladies Have Strong Showing at The Mingle

AG & AG was the most represented group at The Mingle, an annual training event hosted by The Complete Combatant. Demonstrating our organization’s commitment to training and excellence, our members traveled from many different states to Georgia for the training event that included learning and camaraderie.

AG & AG Celebrates Staccato Ranch Opening Day

Representatives from AG & AG were on site for Staccato’s Opening Day ceremonies at their new facility. Ladies shot Staccato 2011 pistols, listened to inspirational speakers, and toured the new facility, We are looking forward to taking members there in the future!


By the Numbers

Here is our reach for May 2024:

  • We mailed 554 membership packets from HQ (+34.1% over last May).
  • In May 2024 A Girl & A Gun chapters hosted 378 chapter events with 2,048 attendees (+43.2% over last May).
  • We hosted 2 virtual events with 671 (and climbing!) views.
  • We opened 4 new chapters: Pahrump NV, Abilene TX, Gulf Coast MS, and Everett WA.
  • Our smartphone app downloads grew to 12,110 users (+9.128 over last May).

Local Training and Media Highlights

Here are local news and media highlights for May 2024:

The Savannah GA Chapter ladies enjoyed some avocado salsa and range time between downpours during their Cinco De Mayo Shoot.

The Douglas County NV Chapter had 12 ladies earn their A G & AG Pistol Marksmanship Standard Level 1 beads. Level 2, here they come!

The Gold Country CA Chapter worked on the skillset of the month and then worked on earning beads through the new A Girl & A Gun Marksmanship Program.

The Douglas County NV Chapter held its annual range cleanup day. The chapter was recognized by the County for their cleanup efforts.

The Nassau FL Chapter has almost 1/3 of their chapter members committed to the Marksmanship Program. They practiced for the first bead at their GNO.

The Broward County FL Chapter helped each other’s achy shoulders during a break at Tatiana Whitlock’s Defensive Pistol class hosted by B2 Defense Training at Okeechobee Shooting Sports.

The Texoma TX Chapter toured Bond Arms in Granbury, TX, to see how these firearms are made.

The Douglas County NV Chapter worked on presenting on target and making good hits. They also tackled the Dot Torture Drill.

The New Braunfels-Seguin TX Chapter enjoyed a fun relaunch and planned future activities and GNOs.

The Las Vegas NV Chapter was hosted Adam Winch with Defenders USA for 3 days of top-notch training. They loved every minute of it!

The Gold Country CA Chapter met at the Lincoln Rifle Club. They worked on ready positions and several ladies passed levels of the new A Girl & A Gun Marksmanship program.

The Douglas County NV Chapter held its 1st Annual Co-Ed Shoot. The spouses/partners got to experience the kind of drills and skills the ladies work on at events.

The Dayton OH Chapter had so much fun with all the strings of the quarterly match, reviewed ready positions, and also tackled the 5x5x5 playing card drill!

The North Austin TX Chapter started their journey through the AG & AG Marksmanship Program and all participants earned a bead! Way to go, ladies!

The Davenport IA Chapter had a big turnout at their GNO! These amazing members show how shooting can be fun! Keep it up, girls — you’re all awesome.

The Beaumont TX Chapter shot the 1st Level of the new Pistol Marksmanship at GNO. They all did well and earned their first beads!

The Douglas County NV Chapter hosted a seminar/potluck with a guest speaker. The topic was home defense and how to defend yourself from an intruder if you were in bed sleeping.

The Memphis TN Chapter ladies were excited to jump into the Marksmanship Program and earn their first beads!

The McCall ID Chapter had a great Holster Clinic! They had a variety of OWB, IWB, AIWB, Off-Body Carry, specialty holsters, and belts to sample. They discussed pros & cons of each and the importance of finding what works for you! It was a great confidence-builder for future live-fire holster clinics.

The San Antonio, New Braunfels, and San Antonio Northwest TX Chapters teamed up to volunteer for a No Bull Radio Veterans Fundraiser. #givingback

The Roanoke VA Chapter tackled the Level 1 Standard COF of the Marksmanship Program. Congratulations to Angela, Chrystal, Deb, Mel, Rebecca, Rena, Shirley, and Trinity on earning your first beads!

The Sierra Foothills CA Chapter is loving the Pistol Marksmanship Program! Some members are earning beads, and others are ordering their books. THANK YOU to the AG&AG team who developed this program, and to Wendy for promptly filling orders!

The Oxford OH Chapter had a great morning practicing the Quarterly Match. They even celebrated a birthday with a balloon target!

The Texoma TX Chapter volunteered to help clean with their outreach partner The Walker House, in Denison, TX. The Walker House supports military veterans. #givingback

The Memphis TN Chapter members gathered at The Mingle for instruction and fellowship! Everyone had a great time.

The Aiken SC Chapter is running the Pistol Marksmanship Program, and everyone is doing a great job on their strings. So proud of their paths to earn their beads! #marksmanship

The Flagler County FL Chapter hosted Janet Smith from Project Appleseed to discuss the upcoming LadySeed event, and then followed with shooting drills using Cancer Awareness Target in honor of all of our friends and family battling cancer. Facilitator Kathleen shared the online target description and Robyn Sandoval’s testimony as many ladies were not aware of why AG & AG supports these charities and foundations.

The Katy TX Chapter women had a fantastic time learning about and demonstrating their shotgun skills at our May 15th Girls Night Out! Such a fantastic evening!

The Broward County FL Chapter had a great time working on the new AG & AG Pistol Marksmanship Program!

The New Braunfels and San Antonio TX Chapter Ladies kicked off Memorial Day Weekend by participating in the Pistol Marksmanship Program Fun Shoot.

A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG) is a membership organization whose events are successful stepping stones for thousands of women entering the shooting community by fostering their love of shooting with caring and qualified instructors who coach them.
