The A Girl & A Gun Marksmanship Programs are more than just drills—they’re your personal journey to confidence and skill. These self-paced, guided activities are designed to strengthen your shooting fundamentals while giving you clear milestones to celebrate along the way. As you level up your marksmanship and master techniques you may have never explored before, you’ll earn colorful beads for your bracelet—each one a symbol of your dedication and growth. It’s a fun, rewarding way to track your progress, challenge yourself, and take pride in every shot you take!
You can earn one bead at each AG & AG chapter event that you attend. Seek prior approval from your Chapter Facilitator that the Marksmanship Programs will be incorporated at upcoming events.

The A Girl & A Gun Defensive Marksmanship Program (DMP) is where marksmanship meets real-world readiness. This self-paced, guided training challenges you to move beyond static bullseye shooting and embrace dynamic, scenario-based skills that mirror the chaos of actual confrontations. It’s not just about hitting the target—it’s about learning to think clearly, move confidently, and respond decisively under pressure. Designed to build both your mindset and your skillset, the DMP empowers you to be prepared for anything—because when it counts, hesitation isn’t an option.
Earning your beads is a proactive and exciting way to show pride about your pistol skills! You start with a stylish leather bracelet and then earn up to 20 beads as you progress through the Marksmanship Program! Each level comprises 2 courses of fire (COFs), Standard (silver beads) and Precision or Defender (gold beads).
If you are newer in your firearms journey, you may choose to start with the Standard strings and progress through the levels of the program to earn your 10 silver beads, before returning to Level 1 and tackling the more advanced strings to earn your 10 gold beads.
Experienced shooters have the choice to only earn the 10 gold beads, or you can earn a silver and gold bead for each level for a total of 20 beads as you advance through the program. The choice is yours!

Yes, the Marksmanship Programs are for members of AG & AG. If you’re not a member, join today! We have chapters throughout the country, or you can be a part of national eChapter.
The AG & AG Pistol Marksmanship Program is designed for any shooter to participate, at any level and even if you do not own your own handgun (yet).
You can use any semiautomatic handgun, centerfire or rimfire, compact or full-size, with iron sights or optics. You must use the same caliber/size/sights throughout the entire program. Once you begin Level 1, you may change make/model of firearm, but the caliber/size/optic must be the same. For example, if you start with a 9mm full-size pistol with a red dot, you will use similar pistols (e.g., Glock 47 MOS, Walther PDP, Smith & Wesson 2.0) for the duration of the program. (Yes, after completion of the program, you can redo the entire program with second (or third, or fourth) pistol and earn more bracelets and beads!)
Note that Precision COFs require firearms with magazines capable of holding a minimum of 10 rounds.
The AG & AG Defensive Marksmanship Program is designed to be run with one’s carry gun from the holster. See your Chapter Facilitator for details.

The Marksmanship Program booklets lists all of the rules and requirements of the program.
You will need 50 rounds of full metal jacket (FMJ) cartridges in your firearm’s caliber for each level of the Marksmanship Program. Have additional ammunition on hand in case you must reshoot a string.
