Having a great day at the range starts with having your range bag packed correctly! Keeping a quality Trauma Kit with you at the range is important, and it can be helpful to keep a Boo-Boo Kit in your range bag for minor scrapes and scratches that may happen. Your Boo-Boo Kit can be as simple or as elaborate as you would like.
Here are some common items that can be included:
- Quart-sized Ziploc bags
- Nitrile Gloves
- Band-Aids in various sizes/styles
- Aspirin
- Scissors
- Tweezers
- Digital Thermometer
- Safety Pins
- Sharpie
- Antihistamine
- Duct Tape
- Medical Tape
- Antiseptic Wipes
- LeadOff Wipes
- Hydrocortisone
- Polysporin
- Antacids
- Burn Cream
- Ponytail bands — they come in handy!
According to the National Safety Council, about 25% of emergency room visits could be avoided if people had basic first-aid training and were properly equipped to handle emergencies.
If you have a Chapter Facilitator, ask her about a chapter activity where everyone brings an item to share (e.g., a box of Band-aids). It’s a fun and cost-effective time! Learn more in Month #7 of your Shooting Journal.
