San Diego Chapter Shows It’s More Than Shooting!
Our San Diego CA Chapter members gathered donations and supplies for a gift drive that they did for an impoverished local middle school. Some students were able to receive their gifts before Christmas, but since COVID had ramped up in San Diego, many of the students received their gifts in January when they returned from winter break.
The chapter collected thousands of dollars in cash donations and were able to wrap approximately 850 gifts, donate 500 pads and 500 tampons, and personal hygiene items including around 100 sticks of deodorant, 50 bottles of body wash and shampoos, and dozens of toothbrushes and toothpaste. They gave every student two pairs of socks, and at least two wrapped presents, and each girl received a cellophane package of bobby pins and hair ties, and a pair of earrings. They donated gifts including hair products, games, makeup, amazon fires, gaming headsets, basketballs, and much more. They provided presents for 150 students that are in the foster care system or borderline homeless.
They also wrote each student a card with a personal message about their value in this world, assurances that there are people in their community who care about them, and encouragement to do well in school and try their best.
