December 2021 Recap

December marked a fantastic end of 2021 for A Girl & A Gun! We gained new members, new chapters, new host ranges, new gun owners, and new sponsors! Here are our highlights for December and 2021:

AG & AG Grew 45% in 2021!

  • 6,059 new membership packets mailed from HQ (45% increase over 2020)
  • 45 new chapters opened in 2021 (+55%)
  • 822 Shooting Journals were shipped and 2,420 downloaded (+28%)

35,214 Women Trained in 2021!

In 2021, AG & AG had more than 35,000 participants at our events!

  • 3,017 local chapter events with 21,363 attendees
  • 25 virtual events with 12,325 attendees
  • 12 national destination events with 1,526 attendees
  • 35,214 total attendees at events throughout 2021

A Decade of AG & AG – And It’s Full Steam Ahead!

February 28, 2021, marked the 10 Year Anniversary of the first AG & AG event! The first Girls Night Out was attended by just 5 ladies, and now we have thousands of card-carrying members throughout the nation! AG & AG offered the same survey to new members over the past two years. If a woman indicated she was a new shooter (acquiring a firearm within the past year), she was asked additional follow-up questions. The responses for the new-shooter specific questions totaled 1,176 women responses in 2020 and 1,706 in 2021, providing a good glimpse into general trends of this specific demographic. Read More >

Being One’s Own First Responder: Suicide Prevention

In December, we announced that the AG & AG Shooting Journal gets a new supplement for 2022 that includes worksheets that help an individual create a Personal Safety Plan. A personal plan empowers an individual to be her own first responder and gives her resources to ensure her own safety. The firearms community values personal accountability, preparation, and education, so encouraging individuals to create personal safety plans is a useful way to promote the safe use of firearms and take part in suicide prevention. All-Ladies Pheasant Hunt with CZ-USA

The 3rd Annual AG & AG Upland Adventure took place in December. Five members from Texas, Missouri, and Nevada met up with AG & AG Mentor/Trainer David Miller of CZ-USA Field Sports and his dogs Guinness & Sailor, in the small town of Greensburg, Kansas. Hunting skills ran the gambit from the first-time hunter to the very experienced which made for an amazing learning environment. Read More >

Facilitator Forum Provides Monthly Training for Leadership

The 2nd Tuesday of December was our Facilitator Forum, our monthly Zoom call for all of the Chapter Facilitators of A Girl & A Gun to come together for training, recognition, and motivation. We reviewed our Big Wins from November and set goals for upcoming months. The recording is available for Facilitators and has been viewed 153 times.

The end of the December marked time for our quarterly Member Appreciation Giveaway drawing. Five lucky members won great prizes provided by our generous sponsors! Local Training and Media Highlights

Here are local news and media highlights for December 2021:

Pinellas FL Chapter Facilitator Fifi Raymond was featured on the cover of the Tampa Bay Times in a photo essay about black gun owners!

The Broward County FL Chapter placed wreaths on the graves of Veterans at South Florida National Cemetery. They fundraised and donated 60 wreaths to the cemetery!

The Flagler County FL Chapter collected monies to purchase all 34 female deputies of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Department a mani/pedi as a thank you for serving their community!

Akron OH Chapter Facilitator Candy Petticord was featured on News 5 Cleveland in a segment called “‘The Second Amendment wears lipstick’ — Study shows gun ownership among women on the rise”!

Grand Junction CO Chapter member Kathleen Wilkinson was profiled in the Beacon Senior News in an article titled “A Girl and a Gun club empowers female gun owners”!

The Spring TX Chapter was featured in the Woodlands Online News in “A Girl & A Gun” Club at Spring Guns & Ammo Teaches Women How to Protect Themselves and Their Homes!

The December 2021 edition of Lady Shooter Lifestyles Magazine ran a feature on AG & AG’s Clays Extravaganza event that took place in August!

The Memphis TN Chapter shot Christmas tree targets and pushed lights through the holes. The “artwork” and ornaments were a huge hit with the ladies.

The Northern CO Chapter had a white elephant gift exchange, fun cupcakes with pistols, shot “Rotten Reindeer” and “Presents that Suck” targets, and had their Q4 match!

The WyoBraska Chapter played holiday bingo gun-girl style and made adorable snowmen out of socks!

The Sheboygan County WI Chapter made “missile toads” at their holiday party! They also exchanged cookies and made a cookie delivery to two of the local fire departments.

The Davenport IA Chapter had a contest for the Top Three scores shooting paper ornaments on a target, and then had a potluck Christmas party after their range time.

The Laurel Highlands PA and Cortland OH Chapters gave our tac lights as a party favor at their Christmas party. Low-light skills are always important to train!

The Sierra Foothills CA Chapter used gift bags as targets! After they shot the 4Q Match, they had a party at the range!

The Richmond VA collected a truckload of food for the local food pantry, and then had a big potluck party, with enough food for the range staff!

The DeLand-Daytona FL Chapter enjoyed range time and then celebrated their Christmas spirit together!

The Southeast MI Chapter had a Christmas Shoot following their 4Q Match!

AG & AG got a shout out from Charlie Cook on his Riding with Charlie podcast! We’re always glad to introduce people to the show.

AG & AG was mentioned in an article in the DeSoto Times-Tribune titled “The love of firearms bands together regional shooters.” The DeSoto Rifle and Pistol Club is a host range for the AG & AG MidSouth MS Chapter.

President & CEO Robyn Sandoval was the co-host of the Polite Society Podcast presented by the Second Amendment Foundation. The show addresses current events.
