Dear Members and Friends,
We understand the growing concern surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19) across our communities, and our hearts go out to all those who’ve been affected. As gun owners, you may have specific questions about how to keep your families safe, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
We love safety, and we’re passionate about providing training and information that gives you the resources you need to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. This means that we are encouraging members to have family preparedness plans and emergency action plans in place. We’re educating our community on ways to help prevent the spread of the flu and respiratory viruses:
* Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based sanitizer if water is not available.
* Stay home if you are sick to drastically reduce contaminating others and reduce the stress of others if they see/hear that you are feeling unwell.
* Cover your cough or sneeze with your bent elbow or a tissue and then throw the tissue immediately away.
* Clean and disinfect your gear and equipment by wiping down all surfaces to eliminate germs.
We are encouraging our Chapter Facilitators to speak with host ranges about daily sanitation efforts that are in place to ensure the safety of our participants. Facilitators who believe standards for health and safety, the utmost priorities for our members, are not being met, will be asked to move events to an outdoor or other facility or reschedule for a later date.
Our National Conference will continue as planned. Cameo Shooting & Education Complex is a spacious outdoor venue. As always, we will provide hand-washing stations and hand sanitizer throughout the facility. All loaner gear will be sanitized between training sessions. We will work closely with our participants to ensure that anyone who is not feeling well understands that we support them staying home.
We are in frequent communication with the Colorado Department of Parks and Wildlife, which manages the Conference facility. There is no indication from anyone in any branch of state government that Colorado will impose any mandatory travel restrictions or cancellations of upcoming events in the state of Colorado in reaction to concerns regarding the recent Coronavirus news.
We will continue to refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and other public health agencies to determine the safest course of action for everyone who attends our events. This situation continues to evolve quickly, and we will be monitoring it closely. Based on current guidance and our own standards and practices, we remain committed to providing an outstanding experience for you.
At A Girl & A Gun, everything we do is with a heartfelt commitment to providing you tools and knowledge to protect yourself and your families. It’s our honor and privilege to serve you, particularly during challenging times, and we thank you for being at the heart of what we do.
