Hi, I’m Cathy Young, the proud Facilitator of the Millington A Girl & A Gun Chapter. We are a vibrant community of women, each at different stages of our shooting journey—some just beginning, others more experienced—but all united by a shared passion for learning, growing, and supporting one another. Our meetings are not just about improving our shooting skills; they’re also about building friendships, sharing experiences, and, of course, enjoying good food! I’d love for you to come out and see what we’re all about.
My journey with A Girl & A Gun began in September 2024 when Ranae Knapp helped me to start the Millington Chapter. After completing my certifications and training, I officially took on the role of Facilitator in February 2025. Since joining this incredible organization, I’ve not only built lasting friendships but also discovered newfound confidence and skills. It has pushed me beyond my comfort zone, inspiring me to take on challenges like leading Tennessee Enhanced Permit classes. My commitment to continuous training ensures that I can provide the best possible guidance and support to the amazing women in our chapter.
Beyond A Girl & A Gun, I am a co-owner and instructor at The Gun Store & Range in Millington. As a Certified Instructor through the state of Tennessee and the NRA, as well as an NRA-certified Range Safety Officer, my passion lies in helping women of all ages and skill levels gain confidence with firearms. Whether you’re a beginner or looking for a refresher, my goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where you can learn to handle your firearm safely and independently.
