I’m an IT supervisor by my full-time occupation and a part-time instructor with The Trop Institute, but I’m a highly competitive competition shooter on the weekends. “Road Warrior” was my moniker on the Direct Action Tactical shooting team – over 7,000 miles driven in **one** season going to matches!
I am a current NRA Basic & Pistol Instructor, Range Safety Officer, IDPA certified Safety Officer, and general shooting enthusiast on anything that slings lead at high speed. I hold two Expert and one Master class rating in IDPA.
I am a factory certified armorer for Sig Sauer P-series pistols and Smith & Wesson M&P pistols. I’ve been in competitive shooting since 2006, and started shooting with my brothers over four decades ago.
One of the things I love best about instructing (men or women, but especially women) is taking a student that can’t make a complete group on a 4×8 sheet of plywood at 5 yards, and with 1/2 hour of guided instruction have them knocking the 9/10 ring out of a target. The grins on those folks just makes my day when they look at the final target and that grin says “hot dang, I can do this!!!”. THAT’S what an instructor teaches for – the pure joy of putting that piece of lead exactly where you want it to go.
