August 2022 Recap

August was a ton of fun! Our members came to the range between their family vacations and back-to-school activities: AG & AG chapters hosted 355 events, a 15% increase from last year. Our members celebrated National Shooting Sports Month with enthusiasm! Here are some of our highlights:

3rd Annual Clays Extravaganza Draws Women from 16 States

Smiles abounded as 62 competitors participated in the 3rd Annual Women’s Clays Extravaganza Presented by Magpul and Miller Shooting Sports and hosted by A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG). The NSCA-registered shoot included Trap, 5 Stand, and two different sporting courses. It took place August 25 – 27, 2022, at Powder Creek Shooting Park in Lenexa, KS. Learn more >

100 GLOCK Armorers in AG & AG Nation!

Another group of A Girl & A Gun members and Chapter Facilitators traveled to Smyrna, GA, for training at the GLOCK Professional facility. Participants took a one-day Armorers class followed by two days of live-fire Operators course on the range with GLOCK instructors. This group brings the total to 100 certified GLOCK Armorers that have traveled with AG & AG to these training courses!

AG & AG Celebrates National Shooting Sports Month

A Girl & A Gun chapters throughout the country hosted events to celebrate National Shooting Sports Month throughout the month of August. An initiative of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), National Shooting Sports Month is a time to celebrate recreational shooting sports and encourage others to join us at the shooting range!

Robyn Sandoval Presents at GLOCK National Sales Meeting

In August, AG & AG Executive Director Robyn Sandoval traveled to Big Sky, Montana, to speak to the GLOCK team about opportunities in the commercial and LE/mil markets by focusing on female consumers. Robyn shared statistical metrics and polling data from numerous sources that explain the behavior of the women’s markets and how manufacturers can capitalize on that growth.

AG & AG Instructors Give Education and Empowerment in Detroit

A Girl & A Gun instructors were proud to participate in Legally Armed in Detroit’s annual women’s shooting event that took place in August at ranges in Taylor, southwest of Detroit. Audree Danielson (Southeast MI Chapter) and Candy and Abby Petticord (North Coast OH Chapter) were part of the instructor team that welcomed thousands of women interested in learning about guns and personal protection.


By the Numbers

  • In August 2022, AG & AG hosted 355 chapter events with 1,791 attendees.
  • We had 3 virtual events with 1,178 views.
  • 508 new membership packets were mailed from HQ in August.
  • 2 new chapters were opened: Nashville TN and Montrose CO.
  • We grew to 10,447 on our smartphone app (35% increase since last year).
  • 15% increase in scheduled events over August 2021!

Here are local news and media highlights for August 2022:

AG & AG leaders were mentioned in Tom Givens’ monthly Rangemaster newsletter. Robyn Sandoval, Heather Reeves, and Dakota Adelphia all scored a 100% on their written exams! Heather earned the Top Gun award and Dakota earned the class Casino Coin.

The Baton Rouge LA Chapter celebrated their 10th anniversary with AG & AG with a party after range time!

The North Austin TX Chapter hosted another great ASI pistol match: their largest yet with 60 guns and 6 squads!

The Flagler County FL Chapter had Breakfast & Bullets to cover Cooper’s Color Wheel and using SIRT pistols to work on grip and stance.

The Columbia MO Chapter was featured in the GSSF Newsletter for working and shooting their GSSF match.

The Flagler County FL Chapter hosted Jonathan Lord, Director of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), who teaches basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

The Memphis TN Chapter worked on the shooting foundations to help them continue to improve.

The Greater Black Hills SD Chapter enjoyed learning trap shooting this month.

The San Marcos CA Chapter tackled the NRA Marksmanship program at their August GNO.

The Broward County FL Chapter Facilitator Erica earned her CRSO credential and 5 members earned their RSO certifications! Congratulations!

The Central NJ Chapter competed in their local GSSF match. Other members cheered for members who were GLOCK Girls.

The Northern CO Chapter hosted a Shotgun clinic and tried out different Syren shotguns and learned about chokes, ammunition, trap, pheasant hunting, and more.

The Bucks County PA Chapter tried Archery! The ladies, who had never held a bow, or hadn’t since childhood, were hitting the targets with ease!

The Dallas TX Chapter hosted a dry-fire clinic using the Coolfire Training System, Mantis Laser Academy, SIRT Training Pistol, and PROHANDS Tactical Hand Exerciser with Laser Sight. Each participant received a deck of Dry Fire Training Cards, 2 ST Action Pro dummy rounds, and a copy of Annette Evans’ book, The Dry Fire Primer.

The San Diego CA Chapter hosted John Murphy for the FPF Concealed Carry Skills and Tactics advanced-level class.

The Sierra Foothills CA Chapter hosted multiple Stop the Bleed classes. AG & AG Member Katherine W. was the instructor.

The New River NC Chapter hosted their first Girls Night Out event in August and welcomed 20 members in their first month.

The Treasure Coast FL Chapter joined the Gold Coast Florida SASS (Single Action Shooters Society) Aug 22 for Cowboy Action. They had so much fun and already have 2 more scheduled.

The Central NJ Chapter made their annual donation to Project Horses For Forces and this year AG & AG member Carol made the presentation as she is a member of both organizations! SO PROUD!

The Southern OH Chapter celebrated their 1-year anniversary with range time, games, and food!

Robyn Sandoval was a guest instructor on Episode 287 of the Self Defense Gun Stories podcast, on which recent news stories are analyzed.

The Richmond VA Chapter had Girls Night Out and everyone brushed up on their skills.

Saukville WI Chapter Facilitator Theresa Schneider was quoted in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel regarding armed teacher training in Germantown schools.

The Cedaredge CO Chapter hosted clinics of USCCA CCHDF mini courses.

The Yukon OK Chapter came to Rambo’s aid. When Sylvester Stallone bought a gun without a case at a gun show, Vonnie gave him an AG & AG pistol pouch to safely transport it.
