April 2022 Recap

April 2022 was another wonderful month in AG & AG Nation! We welcomed new members, opened new chapters, connected with new host ranges, and of course, hosted our biggest National Conference to date. Here are some of the highlights:

A Girl & A Gun Celebrates 10th National Conference with Record Attendance

Participants included approximately 550 members representing 120 AG & AG chapters from 42 different states. The women were able to choose from among 335 training classes run by 95 of the nation’s top firearms educators. Training classes ran over 3 days, with an additional 2 days of lectures and leadership development. The event also included a Vendor Day with representatives from 37 major brands, including GLOCK, Walther, USCCA, Primary Arms, Stag Arms, Heckler & Koch, U.S. Law Shield, and others, showcasing the latest product lines to AG & AG members and their guests. New Walther F-Series Pistol, Engineered for Women, Debuts at National Conference

AG & AG National Director of Training Tatiana Whitlock made a guest appearance at the National Conference Early Bird Lecture Day on Wednesday, April 27, to introduce the new Walther PDP F-Series. Tatiana told the audience of 350 women about the features and design elements that make this pistol unique. One lucky winner had her name drawn to take one home!

AG & AG Member Shares Remarkable Firearms Journey

In the Hunters HD Gold “Behind the Lens” podcast, Brian Conley interviews AG & AG Alvin TX Chapter Facilitator Kathlynn Joel-Reich. Kat’s firearms journey began with a home invasion that opened her eyes to the importance of planning, preparedness, and personal defense. She welcomed an invitation from a friend to learn firearm safety, and then found a passion for shooting, competition, and teaching. Listen >

160 Competitors Take on the 1Q League Postal Match

In April we proudly announced the winners of the 2022 1st Quarter League Match. Over 160 participants from 36 chapters submitted scores to start the year with a bang! Congratulations to Caitlin Gaub and Shelby Elias of Acadiana, LA for earning 4 wins this quarter. Caitlin placed 1st Overall along with 1st Place in the Centerfire Optics division and Shelby placed 1st in the Rimfire Irons and Rimfire Optics divisions.


By the Numbers

  • In April 2022 A Girl & A Gun chapters hosted over 289 events with more than 1,610 participants (+25% over last April)!
  • We mailed 451 new membership packets from HQ (+1.12% over last April).
  • We opened 3 new chapters in April: Hot Springs AR, Endless Mtns PA, Nassau FL.
  • We hosted 2 virtual events with more than 1,404 (and climbing!) views.
  • Our smartphone app grew to 9,975 users!

Local Training and Media Highlights

Here are local news and media highlights for April 2022:

The Northern CO Chapter tried out the MantisX system with a C02 Sig P320 on the range. Then they shot Rogue Rabbit targets – the Top 3 were put in a drawing for a $25 gift card.

Las Vegas & Henderson NV Chapters teamed up for an Intro to AR Girls Night Out.

The Sierra Foothills CA Chapter had a special co-ed paintball event in April. They tackled teams training scenarios!

The Broward County FL Chapter hosted a SAR USA Girls Night Out with 19 SAR pistols to try out. SAR USA even provided the ammunition!

The Sheboygan County WI Chapter addressed Boo Boo Kits and developed a great list of items, including essential oils for supporting their cuts, bites, headaches, colds, flu, burns, allergies, pain, infections, improving their wellness & more.

The Davenport IA Chapter hosted a clinic on situational awareness and protective moves.

The Western MA Chapter had 6 ladies shoot in a Steel Challenge: one shooting a Ruger Single Six! It was the first competition match for several of them!

Robyn Sandoval was a guest instructor on Episode 272 of the Self Defense Gun Stories Podcast. They analyzed 4 new stories of armed defense at home and in public.

Robyn Sandoval was a co-host on Episode 621 of the Polite Society Podcast presented by the Second Amendment Foundation.
