SAN ANTONIO TX — A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) participated in the 15th Annual Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) National Family Day event held on November 5, 2022, at the at the San Antonio Police Academy in San Antonio, TX. Leaders of the AG & AG San Antonio chapters hosted a bay where event veterans and their families could shoot at steel targets.
“It was a joy to be able to assist our veterans and their family members on the range,” says AG & AG Executive Director Robyn Sandoval. “The vets were able to try two different brands of firearms and hit the targets! We were honored to coach them and thank them for the contributions and sacrifices they have made in service to our country.”
Several hundred veterans, spouses, children, and volunteers were on site for the day. Jack Wilson, who stopped an active killer at his church in White Settlement, TX, inspired the crowd by telling them to “be ready, so they don’t have to ‘get ready’ to protect themselves or their families.” Professional shooter Lena Miculek performed an exciting exhibition and gave some learning nuggets to the audience about how to shoot faster. Veterans enjoyed shooting a variety of firearms, food, children’s activities, and prizes from firearms industry brands.
This was the ninth year for AG & AG to support HAVA by hosting a bay. AG & AG San Antonio TX Chapter leader Sandra Kozero agrees, “We are extremely fortunate to be part of this volunteer event. Being able to give back to this group is an amazing opportunity for our organization.”
