Members and chapters earn national recognition as women welcome new shooters, strengthen skills, and build community at ranges across the country
AUSTIN, TX (AGirlandAGun.org) — A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG) proudly joined NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, in celebrating National Shooting Sports Month® throughout August. Chapters across the country brought the national campaign to life through local events that encouraged women to visit the range, strengthen their skills, try new shooting disciplines, and share the experience with friends and family.
National Shooting Sports Month celebrates the safety, responsibility, skill development, and community that define the shooting sports. Throughout the month, AG & AG Chapter Facilitators created welcoming opportunities for women at every experience level, from first-time shooters taking their earliest steps in firearms education to accomplished competitors continuing to refine their performance.
“National Shooting Sports Month reflects what happens in A Girl & A Gun chapters every week of the year,” said Robyn Sandoval, President & CEO of A Girl & A Gun. “Women arrive at the range with different goals, backgrounds, and levels of experience, but they find qualified instruction, meaningful encouragement, and a community invested in their success. When those women invite someone new to join them, they help strengthen the future of the shooting sports one relationship at a time.”
Chapter celebrations included instructional range sessions, marksmanship challenges, friendly competitions, introductory shooting experiences, and social gatherings designed to make participation approachable and enjoyable. Members shared their experiences using the campaign’s #LetsGoShooting hashtag, extending the reach of their local events and showing a national audience that women are active participants, mentors, instructors, competitors, and leaders throughout the firearms community.
Several AG & AG members were also featured on NSSF’s social media pages during the campaign. The national recognition highlighted the enthusiasm and diversity of women participating in the shooting sports while demonstrating the important role that local chapters play in connecting national initiatives with individuals in communities across the country.
That visibility carries particular significance because participation grows through personal invitations and positive experiences. A social media feature may introduce someone to the shooting sports, but a trusted mentor, supportive instructor, and welcoming range community can give her the confidence to begin. Through hundreds of recurring chapter events nationwide, AG & AG provides that connection and creates a clear path from curiosity to competence.
“A Girl & A Gun members represent the future of the shooting sports because they do more than participate,” Sandoval said. “They encourage other women, support their local ranges, invest in continued training, and share their enthusiasm with the people around them. We are grateful to NSSF for recognizing our members and for creating a national campaign that celebrates the values our chapters demonstrate throughout the year.”
National Shooting Sports Month may take place each August, but its impact continues whenever an experienced shooter mentors a beginner, a family spends time together at the range, or a woman discovers that the shooting sports offer a lifetime of learning, achievement, and community. For A Girl & A Gun, the month provided another opportunity to show women across the country that there is a place for them on the firing line.
