4Q2018 Match Winners Announced

AUSTIN, TX — A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) proudly announces the winners of the 2018 4th Quarter League Match. It was an exciting match for the participants this quarter. This is especially true for three members from the Vista, CA chapter, facilitated by LeAnne Farmer. This chapter secured the top three spots in the Centerfire Irons division, only separated by 1.71 seconds: Vyrna Romek (25.19 secs.), Kathy Smith (25.30 secs.), Gina Roberts (26.90 secs.). Congratulations to all who participated!

This quarter’s course of fire included 18 rounds total and used AG & AG’s newest match target (#3). This was a Limited Vickers match with no more than 6 rounds per string. Each string, the shooter began at low ready with finger outside the trigger guard.

Participants had a choice to register in up to four different divisions:

• Centerfire Irons

  • Non-optic, Notch and post type (fixed or adjustable)

• Centerfire Optics

  • Red Dot Sights or Variable Power Scope capable of 1.0X setting (MUST be set at 1.0X for match)
  • No laser sights

• Rimfire Irons

  • Non-optic, Notch and post type (fixed or adjustable)

• Rimfire

  • Red Dot Sights or Variable Power Scope capable of 1.0X setting (MUST be set at 1.0X for match)
  • No laser sights

Shots were fired in this order:

• String 1 (6 rounds in magazine) – Starting with the left RED circle, shoot 1 shot then transition down and right to the 2ndBLUE square. Shoot 2 shots then transition to the 3rd BLUE square. Shoot 2 shots then transition up and right to the 4th RED circle and shoot 1 shot.

• String 2 (6 rounds in magazine) – Starting with the right BLUE square, shoot 2 shots then transition up and left to the 4th RED circle. Shoot 1 shot then transition down to the 4th BLUE square. Shoot 2 shots then transition up and right to the 1st RED circle and shoot 1 shot.

• String 3 (6 rounds in magazine) – Starting with the 2nd RED circle from the left, shoot 2 shots and transition to the bullseye target. Shoot 2 shots within the black rings (7-10 rings) of the bullseye target then transition back up to the 2nd RED circle from the right and shoot 2 shots.

The Quarterly Match is a nationwide competition among members of A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League. Facilitated during a regularly scheduled event, such as a Girl’s Night Out, shooters are able to experience a competitive atmosphere: understanding the course of fire, match commands, operation of the shot timer, and scoring. The match allows new shooters to overcome mental barriers to participating in competitive shooting and gives experienced shooters the ability to test their skills in a casual, familiar environment.
