2Q 2023 Match Sets New Record

AUSTIN, TX — A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) proudly announces the winners of the 2023 2nd Quarter League Match. This quarter boasted a record number of chapters and number of participants: 210 members from 47 chapters across the U.S. submitted scores. Congratulations to Toni Miller, the chapter facilitator of the Cincinnati, OH chapter for earning 1st Place Overall. Congratulations also goes out to Ashley Krenek of the South Houston, TX chapter for earning All Star Winner status.

Beginning in 2023, the match division structure was enhanced to incorporate the AG & AG skill level color tracks. This allows for participants to be matched up with others of the same skill level and firearm type/sights.

For the match, overall winner Toni Miller, who is in the Green Color Track, used her Walther PDP 5″ pistol with a Holosun green dot optic. Her time was only 20.05 for all three strings. Toni shares that her key to success is practice! “I video my hands while shooting so that I can watch recoil and grip. I have arthritis, so I practice for smooth gun handling, then accuracy, and then speed,” she says.

The goal of the Quarterly Match is to keep focus on bringing new shooters into the match, providing them incentive to improve and help them grow in their personal shooting journey. A new division, Not For Prizes (NFP), was also created for those members looking to try their hand at the match strings. The NFP division winner is recognized in the match statistics but does not receive a portion of the prize pot. Members can shoot in the NFP division two times before they must declare a division and purchase a match fee.

Experienced competition shooters are always welcome to participate and help those new to competition understand the course of fire, match commands, shot timer, scoring and explore matches outside of the chapter. Winners of the match receive cash prizes based on the number of participants, and of course, bragging rights among the chapters.

  1. OMG! I’m so surprised to have made National & League recognition! Thank you AG&AG. I have learned so much since membership enrollment less than 2 years ago. The camaraderie of this organization is like nothing I ever anticipated. Prior to joining I had never fired a hand gun until I met Kathleen Robinson of the Florida Flagler Chapter. She gave me hands-on direction at that very first meeting and the followup exercises with the league meetings have helped me to improve and build confidence. I am so thankful for wonderful all female organization.
